Developed in 1957, the Venlo greenhouse has grown to become the world’s most popular greenhouse over the past fifty or so years. This ingenious greenhouse is characterized by a self-supporting glazing bar system, in which the bars are placed opposite each other.
 
This clever construction limits the material and labour required, the main advantages being minimum light interception and relatively low costs, when compared with other types of greenhouses. No wonder then that the Venlo greenhouse is an icon within the Dutch horticultural sector, and one of the main export products of the Dutch agribusiness world.
 
The Venlo greenhouse is available in a number of basic varieties, namely the standard Venlo greenhouse, the inverted greenhouse and the convertible greenhouse. The Venlo greenhouse is not only used for horticultural purposes but also often for creation of workspaces and garden centres.
